Battered Caravanserai: a gathering of curiosities
***
 “Think, in this battered caravanserai
Whose doorways are alternate night and day,
How sultan after sultan with his pomp
Abode his hour or two, and went his way.”
                         —The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám,
tr. Edward Fitzgerald, 1859

Artworks I've created, both original and Photoshop-manipulations of public domain graphics from old sources, made available through CafePress' print-on-demand service. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this, so there may be hiccups and bugs to work through: please let me know how you find things so that they can be improved.

Under each title is a list of the products available in that series. For most, it will be ceramic mugs, coaster tiles, canvas tote bags, white sweatshirt and t-shirt. Depending on interest, I will add other items as requested, if I think they work with the respective designs.

Clicking on the thumbnails will display an enlargement of the artwork. Clicking on the design title will take you to the CafePress "shop" with images of all the products and ordering forms.

Pricing in US dollars before shipping:
(this represents between $1.50 to $3.00 markup per item, as you can see by checking out CafePress.com and their programs for yourself)
     Ceramic Tile Coasters - $6
     Ceramic Mugs (11 oz) - $13
     Ceramic Mugs (15 oz) - $14
     Canvas Tote Bags - $15
     T-Shirts - $16
     Sweatshirts - $24
     Stickers - $3

Kokopelli Jazz Musicians:
I. Primal Trumpet
II. Primal Clarinet
III. Primal Saxophone

Mug (2 styles)
Coaster
Tote Bag
T-Shirt
Sweatshirt
Trio Sticker (Weatherproof)

Petroglyph style illustrations of "primitive" horn players — available with Saxophone, Clarinet, or Trumpet. Some items use the "rockface" design, others the silhouetted figures.

(The idea for these images came from a doodle on a notebook page by one of my relatives. I've refined the rendering and given the Kokopelli Sax Player a complete ensemble)

Links
I also have links to various catalogs and services that I myself find neat and guess that visitors would probably enjoy as well.

Equitour
Ride cross-country through the continent of your choice, on journeys as rugged or comfortable as you please, traveling and even staying in historic places. The ideal vacation … someday!

Past Times
A wonderful source of things inspired by or copied from old artifacts, from games and gadgets to jewelry and wall hangings. They're based in Oxford, England: if you get the chance, visit their store at 4 Turl Street, by all means.

 By The Sword
Wooden beater swords modeled on real old practice weapons. You can hit each other with them, more or less safely. They also offer nice leather armor, among other things.

Billy and Charlie
Medieval junk jewelry and tourist souvenirs, cheaply recreated for those of us who can't afford the real thing, or want to wear it around. (Humorously  named after 19th century replicators with less-ethical business practices!)

Somme and Ypres Battlefield Tours
James Powers of Dorset (UK) has run small group and self-guided tours of two of the most terrible battlefields of the Great War since 1996 as a personal mission dedicated to making people today understand in the smallest part what the soldiers of WWI endured.

Caveats & Disclaimers
Anything I've made that is taken from someone else's work is credited, and all such works, whether inspired by or derived more directly from, use only public domain images long out of copyright. Those from Dover's clip art series obey the limits placed on usage by the publisher.

Because I do not directly control the printing, nor supervise it, I cannot guarantee absolute color fidelity nor consistency in those items produced by CafePress, though I will take every step within the system's limitations to maintain quality of images.

I also don't have any control over the other catalogs linked to here, but if you experience any significant trouble, let me know and I'll pull them.
